the same year. Gary was first in Adult Men's Singing, Yodeling,

and finally made it this year. Gary now has eleven 1st place out of
thirteen awards. Gary's wife makes him dust his accumulation of
trophies.

contests. Marvin Simonton and Jean Gough were the first three time
winner, in 1979 when there were only ten contests. Jean
Gough repeated with three awards in 1980. KOFPS waited till 1989
before it happened again, when Jason Gough won three trophies.
Twelve
additional people won two awards at the 2009 Contests. To view them,

All the Junior Contestants were exceptionally fun this year.
The five year old singer was a crowd pleaser. These youth are worth
coming back to hear next year. Bring a friend, This is a, 'you
don't want to miss it."
At 85 years old, and with his first entry in over 20 years, Marvin Gough
won first in the Senior Fiddling Contest on a fiddle he hand-crafted.
Marvin and his wife Doris were instrumental in developing KOFPS to how
widespread it is today. For over twenty years, Marvin and Doris have
been traveling the USA spreading KOFPS music far and wide.
KOFPS
has some members who have a streak going. Pat Lundy of Walnut
Valley has received a trophy in 18 consecutive years. This is the
current longest winning streak among active members. She has also
won in more years than anyone in KOFPS, at 31 years with an award.
In second is Blaine Gee of Yates Center, with 29 years. Third
is Marvin Simonton of Walnut Valley with 26 years.
Blaine Gee also has won the most trophies of any
member. Winning from two to four awards per year, Blaine has 66
trophies. Pat Lundy is second with 56. Among active
members, Marvin Simonton is third with 31.
Pam Carleton of Santa Fe Trail is the active member who has won the most
trophies in any year at five. She has only been participating for
nine years, and already has accumulated 27 trophies. Pam has to dust
her own trophies. Watch her, she has a shot at five first place some
year.
We look forward to seeing Bill and Sue Lemaster from White Eagle Chapter
back to entertain us next year.

is time we got acquainted again. Come see us.
